The family farm
For most Americans, those words evoke the image of a rural household replete with cows, corn and kids. Data from state and national surveys consistently indicate the general public values family farms, respects the values of farmers and appreciates the wholesome products they produce.
The Florida Farm Bureau Federation's mission is "to increase the net income of farmers and ranchers, and to improve the quality of rural life."
FARM BUREAU SPEAKS FOR FAMILY FARMS
There is no "typical" family farm. Family farms range from small, part-time operations to large farms operated by family corporations. Regardless of the size and structure of the enterprise, family farms are defined by family proprietorship and the day-to-day involvement of family members in their operation.
Florida Farm Bureau exists to strengthen family farms and local communities. Florida Farm Bureau's bylaws state our purpose as "applying joint and collective effort, at the county, state and national levels, to the solution of problems of agriculturists and members' communities in economic, educational, political and social fields." Simply put, Florida Farm Bureau is the organization in Florida that speaks for our family farms. The majority of the state's family farmers are Farm Bureau members.
