
Florida Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general agricultural organization, will host a meet and greet session to allow Farm Bureau members, as well as the general public, an opportunity to get to know Cara Martin. Martin was recently appointed Farm Bureau’s liaison to the St. Johns River Water Management District.
The meeting will be held Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Ag Center. The center is located at 111 Yelvington Road, Suite 1 in East Palatka.
Farm Bureau members and interested public parties who live in Nassau, Baker, Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Flagler, Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Alachua, Marion, Brevard, Indian River and parts of Orange and Osceola counties are welcome to attend the meeting.
In addition to her new duties with SJRWMD, Martin has been Farm Bureau’s liaison between the Southwest Florida Water Management District and members for six years.
Martin serves as a representative for the agriculture industry on local governmental issues within the counties that comprise both the Southwest and St. Johns River water management districts.
Martin, assistant director of government affairs for the Florida Farm Bureau Federation, is a graduate of the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business Administration and holds a master’s degree from UF’s College of Agriculture. She chairs the board of directors of Florida Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc., and chairs the Agriculture Advisory Committee to the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
