Taste of the Heartland Promotes Agriculture

The Highlands County Farm Bureau hosted the Taste of Heartland at the Avon Park Lakes Farmers Market in Avon Park last Saturday. The Highlands County Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee served up complimentary breakfast including pork sausage, farm fresh scrambled eggs, watermelon and chocolate milk.

The event included kid-friendly agricultural education activities and displays, lunch samples from local chef Jacob Lyons, and an array of local vendors offering fresh produce, plants, arts and crafts, soaps, baked goods and more.
