November 2021
Florida Farm Bureau has presented Shelby and Kevin Lussier with the organization’s 2021 Achievement in Agriculture Award. This high honor recognizes Young Farmers and Ranchers for their skill at farm production, development of their agricultural enterprise and service to Farm Bureau and the local community.
The Lussiers raise dairy cattle and own a hand-crafted artisan cheese business, Hawthorne Creek Creamery, in Hawthorne, Fla.
Kevin is the third generation to work on his family’s farm after graduating college in 2016. The couple were able to diversify the farm by expanding its operation to include a cow-calf operation and a creamery, which offers Gouda, Havarti and Swiss cheese.
Florida Farm Bureau Past-President John L. Hoblick presented the Achievement in Agriculture Award to the Lussiers during the organization’s annual meeting in Orlando on Oct. 28.
As Florida’s Achievement in Agriculture Award winners, the Lussiers will receive a new Ford® F-150 pick-up truck, courtesy of Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Companies, a $500 cash award and an expense-paid trip to the 2022 American Farm Bureau Annual Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 7-12, 2022, to represent the Sunshine State in the national Achievement in Agriculture Award competition.
