Morgan Pinkerton of Seminole County, a tireless advocate for Florida agriculture, has been named Florida Farm Bureau’s 2022 Volunteer Communicator of the Year.
This prestigious honor recognizes a Farm Bureau volunteer who has made exceptional efforts to communicate the many ways agricultural production benefits all Floridians. Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Smith presented the award at the state organization’s annual meeting on Oct. 27 in Orlando.
Pinkerton was recognized for her dedication to agriculture in her community. During the 2021 school year, Pinkerton led the funding for eight Seminole county Farm Bureau agricultural education mini-grants that have impacted an estimated 500 students throughout the county. Her collaboration with the Seminole county education professionals to develop a “Flat Farmers” travel campaign is instrumental in teaching new audiences about agriculture. Her social media outreach has reached an audience of more than 50,000 on her authentic posts about Seminole county agriculture.
Seminole County Farm Bureau President Erin Vermillion said that Seminole County is blessed to have Morgan as a volunteer. “She has always been willing to go above and beyond for anything that spreads a positive light on agriculture in our county. Before Morgan came to Seminole County, agriculture was merely a word.”
“It now means education, leadership, giving, scholarships, mini-grants, farm tours, curriculum, speech competitions, urban farming and a way of life, for not only from our past but for a strong future,” added Vermillion.
