Jeff Parker Farms, a fourth-generation farming family from St. Johns County will be featured in a Super Bowl commercial scheduled to be broadcast in the 3rd quarter of the game on Sunday, February 9. The commercial titled The Little Farmer is produced by Frito-Lay for its Lay’s Potato Chips brand with the tagline “Lay’s are made from real potatoes, and our potatoes come from real farmers.”
The 60-second commercial concludes with a photo of DeLee Parker, age 5, holding two potatoes from the family’s farm. A transition follows with a photo collage of her dad, Jeffrey, his dad, Jeff, and his dad’s cousin Scott, along with their multiple generations of farmers in the family photo. Two other farming families are featured in the collage at the end of the commercial. They are Wesley Smith of Smith Farms (St. Johns County) and Steve Singleton, his wife April, and their three sons (Putnam County).
The ad showcases generational farm families who are committed to sustainable farming practices while growing high-quality potatoes for Lay’s and American pantries. The farms featured have received the Florida Farm Bureau’s County Alliance for Responsible Environmental Stewardship (CARES) Award for their role in preserving the land for future generations.
“As the voice of Florida’s farmers and ranchers, we are so proud to see our agricultural community represented on such a grand stage,” said Florida Farm Bureau Federation President Jeb. S. Smith, who is a resident of St. Johns County. “These farms embody the passion and dedication that drive Florida agriculture and play a vital role in supporting our local economy.”
According to the National Football League, last year’s Super Bowl had more than 123 million viewers.
