Florida Farm Bureau Federation commends Governor Ron DeSantis for signing legislation that will expand healthcare access for Florida residents, especially for those in rural and agricultural areas.
SB Bill 480, Nonprofit Agricultural Organization Medical Benefit Plans, will offer Floridians affordable and personalized health care plans for those who do not have access to health insurance or are faced with being uninsured due to the high costs.
“Access to affordable healthcare is essential to the well-being of our state’s farmers and ranchers. This vital legislation ensures that the people who provide food for our state and nation can now better care for themselves and their families,” said Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb Smith. “We are extremely grateful for Governor DeSantis, Sen. Nick DiCeglie, Rep. JJ Grow and the entire Florida Legislature for recognizing the needs of our rural communities.”
The Farm Bureau Health Plan will serve as a member benefit for all Floridians wishing to have options for the best and affordable health care coverage. The plan will go into effect July 1, 2025.
