Florida women representing 24 county Farm Bureaus received the Women’s Activity Award on March 31 at the 2016 Florida Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Conference, March 31-April 2 at the Boca Raton Marriott.
Recipients of the award were recognized for their contributions to their local communities and their work at improving awareness of agriculture through educational programming, leadership development and public outreach.
“As the number of women as principal operators on farms and ranches increases, so will the role of women in leadership positions in agriculture,” said Sarah Carte, Chair of the Florida Farm Bureau’s State Women’s Leadership Committee. “These women are committed to making a difference in their local communities and sharing the positive story of agriculture.”
Florida Farm Bureau Women in the following counties were recognized: Bay, Bradford, Broward, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Hamilton, Hernando/Citrus, Highlands, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Marion, Nassau, Okaloosa, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Putnam/St. Johns, Suwannee, Taylor, Union and Volusia.
The 2016 Florida Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Conference welcomed more than 120 attendees from across Florida. Conference sessions included workshops on public speaking, event planning, recruitment, farm tours of local agriculture and a motivating closing session featuring farm mom and TLC TV star Amy Roloff of “Little People BIG World.”
