Gainesville, Fla. – Marilyn Grant has been named the recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award by Florida Farm Bureau. The award recognizes a Farm Bureau member who has made outstanding contributions to the Farm Bureau organization as well as Florida agriculture.
Grant, a Marion County native, has been involved with Farm Bureau for nearly 40 years. Grant first served on Marion County Farm Bureau’s Board of Directors in 1976, was a 4-H leader for more than a decade and has been inducted into the Marion County Agricultural Hall of Fame.
“She was not a farmer’s wife,” said Tom Cothron, agency manager of Marion County Farm Bureau. “She was a farmer who was married to another farmer.”
“Marilyn’s ability to motivate and lead other people has made her a great asset,” said John Hoblick, President of Florida Farm Bureau Federation. “Her tireless work ethic and skill have helped shape Marion County Farm Bureau and agriculture across the state.”
Florida Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general agricultural organization, represents more than 145,000 member-families. We serve to enhance farm enterprise and improve rural communities.
