Wendy Smith

Wendy Smith and her husband, Jeb, have been married more than 24 years. They met when they were younger in 4-H and started dating in college.

They have four children: Jared, Cady, Jeremy and Cayla, who were all home-educated.  Jared just graduated from ABAC. Cady and Jeremy are both attending college and Cayla is in the 11th grade.

Wendy’s husband, Jeb is a 5th generation farmer who owns Smith & Johns, Inc. , with his father.  Wendy is in charge of marketing the cattle for direct-sale beef, and public relations outreach.  The farm grows cattle, perennial peanut hay, sod and timber.

Wendy is an avid volunteer in the community.  She is a 4-H Leader – Meat Judging Team, Forestry Team, she is the pianist and secretary at their church and serves as secretary and on the Board of Trustees at the Florida Agricultural Museum in Flagler County.

Wendy graduated from high school at Ocala Christian Academy where she participated in 4-H and showed cattle, served on the livestock and meat judging teams and was the county council president.

After receiving her A.A. from Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Wendy received her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Florida.  In college, she was an Ag Ambassador, was a member of the Collegiate Meat Judging Team, Block and Bridle Club and Ag-Ed Society.

In her spare time, Wendy enjoys reading, music and sewing. This is her second year serving on the Women’s Leadership Committee.

Her favorite part of being involved with the Women’s Leadership Committee is that it has allowed her the opportunity to “meet, work with, and serve so many amazing women who are involved in agriculture.  Although our involvement is quite diverse, we all share the same desire to educate and ensure that our fellow consumers, our local students, and our communities know and understand the value of agriculture and the importance of supporting and strengthening the efforts of the farmer.”
