While the holiday season brings cheer and joy to our hearts, it has the ability to spark an unwanted hazard, fire. Christmas trees account for hundreds of fires each year. From electrical shorts to burning candles to dry and un-watered trees, it is important to be fire smart during the holidays.

According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), nearly half of all holiday decoration fires happen because decorations are placed too close to a heat source.
