You might be surprised to know that Florida is home to 18 Christmas tree farms, all of which are family-owned and operated. These farm families are dedicated to providing fresh, Florida-grown Christmas trees for all to enjoy.
According to the Florida Christmas Tree Association, two to three trees are planted for every tree that is harvested and purchasing a Florida-grown tree is good for the environment and the state’s economy.
There’s nothing quite like the smell of a fresh Christmas tree in your home during the Holidays and the tradition of Christmas trees dates back to 1500 A.D. For a list of Christmas tree farms in Florida, visit: http://www.flchristmastrees.com/farms/Index.htm.
Christmas is not just a day, it’s a season, and for Florida Farm bureau members like the Harris, Gibbs and Kossuth families, it’s a livelihood. Florida varieties include red cedar, sand pine, Leyland cypress and spruce pine. Learn more about these Florida Christmas tree producers in this article from FloridAgriculture.
