Gainesville, Fla.– Farm-City Week is Nov. 21-27 and celebrates the beneficial partnerships between rural and urban communities. Farmers produce the quality food and fiber for everyone to enjoy.
The partnerships between producers, grocers, truck drivers, processors, consumers and many others all play important roles in getting the food from the fields to the tables.
Florida Farm Bureau counties statewide will sponsor multiple Farm-City Week events preceding the Thanksgiving holiday to celebrate the relationships that provide food abundance and strengthen the nation’s economy. Events include kid-friendly activities and educational demonstrations, vintage farm equipment displays, farm tours, essay contests and home-cooked meals.
“Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the harvest and abundance of the food that we share with our family and friends,” said Florida Farm Bureau President John Hoblick. “Farm-City Week gives us the opportunity to recognize the farmers and ranchers and the consumers who all work together to appreciate what agriculture means to our state.”
The week will also be designated for food collection for various food banks and charitable organizations in local communities throughout Florida.
