Grassroots Members Advocate in Tallahassee

March 2025

More than 350 grassroots members gathered at the state Capitol on March 18 to meet with legislators during Florida Farm Bureau’s annual Farm Bureau Day.

Members discussed key policy issues including the Florida Farm Bill, farm labor housing, a health benefit plan and protecting private property rights.

“Farm Bureau Day is a great opportunity to allow our elected officials to experience the variety of Florida agriculture and the economic impact our industry has on the state,” said Tripp Hunter, Florida Farm Bureau’s Director of State Legislative Affairs. “Our grassroots members are the voice of our organization, and we enjoyed having them in Tallahassee to advocate for policies that impact their livelihoods, protect Florida’s natural resources and secure access to a safe and healthy food supply.”

The annual advocacy day concluded with the much-anticipated Taste of Florida Agriculture reception; a time for guests to sample locally grown Florida foods, visit with farm families, network with public officials and learn about the diversity of Florida agriculture. Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Smith and Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson welcomed guests to the public reception, which drew more than 1,200 guests.
