Grassroots Members Celebrate Urban and Rural Partnerships

December 2024

Grassroots members hosted a variety of events last week to celebrate the valuable partnerships between urban and rural communities that ensure food travels from the farm gate to the dinner plate. These celebrations were part of Farm-City Week, celebrated the week before Thanksgiving to recognize the importance of farmers and ranchers, grocers, processors, scientists, consumers and everyone who contributes to a safe, nutritious and abundant food supply.

“Farm-City Week is a great opportunity for our farm families to celebrate the partnerships they have with various members of their communities and foster new relationships,” said Florida Farm Bureau Federation President Jeb S. Smith. “Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for our nation to express our gratefulness to God for His provision and to our farmers and ranchers for their sacrifice and hard work to provide a safe, affordable, and abundant food supply for all.”

County Farm Bureaus statewide hosted or assisted in a variety of Farm-City Week events, including farm tours, recognition banquets, educational displays, Thanksgiving parades, festivals, elementary poster and essay contests and food drives. Photos from county events can be found here.
