State Sen. Jay Collins (District 14) has earned Florida Farm Bureau’s 2023 Legislator of the Year award for his outstanding leadership during the 2023 legislative session.
Sen. Collins represents citizens in Hillsborough County. As Chair of the Senate Agriculture committee, Senator Jay Collins worked tirelessly on behalf of the agriculture industry, sponsoring Senate Bills 1164 and 1184. Senate Bill 1164 was a multi-faceted package that included the Farm TEAM Card. This card will provide a more streamlined process for farmers and ranchers to obtain agricultural sales tax exemptions.
“Sen. Collins has been a true friend to agriculture,” said Florida Farm Bureau Director of Legislative Affairs Andrew Walmsley. “We are honored to present him with the Legislator of the Year Award. He is a true advocate for farm families and understands the importance of preserving Florida farms for tomorrow.”
Sen. Collins received the honor at the Florida Farm Bureau Federation state annual meeting during its legislative luncheon on Oct. 26 in Orlando.
