Florida Farm Bureau members Chase and Amber Cannady represented Florida at the USDA’s Great American Farmers Market, held during National Farmers Market Week, in Washington, D.C. The event showcased several Farm Bureau members and state organizations from across the country.
The Cannady’s own North Florida Elderberry in Jasper, Florida, where they make and sell a variety of elderberry products like juices, syrups and balsamic vinegar. They were excited to participate in the Great American Farmers Market and share their love of agriculture and elderberries with hundreds of event attendees.
“We’re here to share our story and get the word out about the products we have available,” Chase said.
This is their second year of selling elderberry products, primarily in Florida. They’re looking to expand the outlets that sell their products beyond the Sunshine State. The couple does all the work to produce each year’s elderberry crop themselves – everything from planting and pruning to hand harvesting.
The Great American Farmers Market was held during National Farmers Market Week, celebrated August 3-8. More than 30 farmers from across the United States traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate this year.
