Palm Beach Man Named State’s Top Crop Advisor

CropAdvisosrAward FrankDowdleOrlando, Fla. ­­– An expert in crop production in Palm Beach County has been recognized for his work with a statewide honor. Frank Dowdle received the Excellence in Crop Advising Award at Florida Farm Bureau’s 75th Annual Meeting in Orlando on Oct. 27.

Dowdle is the Agriculture Safety Officer at Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service. He coordinates Worker Protection Standard (WPS) training workshops and organizes multiple safety-related training workshops on tractors, forklifts and packinghouses in response to local needs.  Dowdle is responsible for assisting in the production of agriculture crops (spanning 460,000 acres) in Palm Beach County.
Dowdle is a member of the Florida Association of County Agricultural Agents, National Association of County Agricultural Agents, American Association of Pesticide Safety Educators and American Society of Safety Engineers.   He worked for a private agricultural company for more than 29 years before joining the Extension Service in 2009.

In addition to his vast work experience, Dowdle is a loyal volunteer in his community.

The award is presented annually by Florida Farm Bureau in conjunction with the Florida Certified Crop Advisors’ board of directors.
