In episode 35 of the Rural Recharge podcast, Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Smith with Trevor Williams, host of Farm Traveler.
A Florida native, Williams holds a degree in Agricultural Education and Communication from the University of Florida. Although he didn’t grow up on a traditional farm, his childhood was shaped by agriculture through his grandfathers’ hybrid bass, cattle, hay and catfish operations. He participated in FFA in high school and later became a high school Agriscience teacher before launching Farm Traveler with his wife, Allie. What began as a blog in 2017 evolved into a podcast in 2019. Their mission is to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers and provide a platform for farmers to share their stories.
Through Farm Traveler, Williams has visited farms of all types and sizes—from Florida dairy operations to cacao farms in Hawaii, where he sampled chocolate grown in volcanic soil.
Williams leaves listeners with a simple takeaway: “It has never been easier to support your local farmer.” Whether through farmers’ markets, online platforms or local extension offices, consumers have more opportunities than ever to support agriculture in their communities.
