CARES Recipients Release New Sparkling Wine

Island Grove Winery has collaborated with Whole Foods Market and the University of Florida/IFAS Food Science and Human Nutrition Department to develop a new line of sparkling wine. The new line is available to purchase through Island Grove’s website and at Whole Foods Market across Florida. The line features four new flavors; Sparkling Berry Sangria, Sparkling Peach Moscato, Sparkling Blueberry Moscato and Sparkling Strawberry Moscato.

The Winery worked with Dr. Andrew MacIntosh at UF/IFAS and master’s student Nicholas Wendrick to conduct a study that led to the creation of new sparkling wines that appeal to wine drinkers. This is the first time Island Grove Winery has offered a sparkling wine on a commercial level. During the study, the team at Whole Foods for the Florida market reached out to the winery to discuss creating a sparkling line. Whole Foods worked closely with the Island Grove team to select the flavors, taste and packaging that would fit in their retail stores.

Island Grove Winery received a CARES designation in 2018 for their sustainable farming efforts.
