Nassau County Journalist Earns Statewide Award

Dawn West of Westside Journal in Callahan, Fla., has received Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s 2022 Newsperson of the Year Award. The honor was announced on Oct. 27 at Florida Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting in Orlando.

The organization presents the award annually to a journalist who has provided superior news coverage of Florida’s farm families and production agriculture.

West was nominated by Nassau County Farm Bureau President Tim Stokes, for her work on enhancing the public’s understanding of agriculture as publisher/owner of Westside Journal.

Florida Farm Bureau offers the Newsperson of the Year Award as part of a continuing program of recognition for excellence in the general news media.

West and her husband, Roger, own and operate Westside Journal newspaper in Callahan. The publication is in its 19th year and focuses on telling the stories of the local community.
