The Putnam-St. Johns County Farm Bureau Women’s Program raised $8,000 for HorsePlay Therapy Center’s Rise Up for Veterans program during its Line Dancing for Charity event, held Aug. 1 at Molasses Junction in Elkton.
The event brought together 75 women from across the community for an evening of dancing, fellowship and fundraising in support of local veterans. Sponsorships from 17 local businesses and 21 donated raffle baskets helped maximize proceeds for the Rise Up for Veterans program.
Operated by HorsePlay Therapy Center, a nonprofit organization based in Hastings, the Rise-Up for Veterans program enhances the quality of life for veterans and their families through equine-assisted therapy. Participants work alongside licensed mental health professionals and trained therapy horses to build trust, strengthen coping skills and support physical, emotional and social healing.
“This event was designed not only to bring the community together in support of local agriculture, but more importantly to raise awareness about the Rise Up for Veterans program and Farm Bureau’s broader mission,” said Rebecca Jones, Putnam-St. Johns County Women’s Program Chair.
“We hope every participant was inspired to become a stronger voice for agriculture in their community. Thank you for supporting this cause.”
This fundraiser reflects the Women’s Program’s commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives that make a lasting impact across Putnam and St. Johns counties.
