South Florida Farmer to Provide Senate Testimony on Aging Workforce

Boynton Beach farmer Jim Alderman, owner of Alderman Farms will provide testimony before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging.

The Committee Hearing, The Aging Farm Workforce: America’s Vanishing Family Farms will air June 4 at 4:15 p.m. EST.

The special committee on aging, chaired by U.S. Senator Rick Scott, released a report, America’s Aging Farm Workforce” highlighting the key challenges of an aging farm workforce and its threat to agricultural production, food security and the sustainability of rural communities.

The report outlines policy recommendations to address the disappearance of family farms including reducing economic pressures, promoting agricultural innovation, streamlining regulations and protecting domestic agriculture and protecting American agriculture from foreign attacks.
