Classroom Mini-Grant
The Florida Farm Bureau Federation (FFBF) Classroom Mini-Grant program is intended to increase awareness and understanding of agriculture among students and educators. FFBF offers $250.00 mini-grants to certified Florida educators who are engaged in agriculture education classroom instruction at pre-kindergarten through 12th grade levels.
Eligible Applicants:
- Certified Florida teachers engaged in classroom instruction at pre-kindergarten through 12th grade levels who integrate agricultural concepts into everyday core curricula.
Requirements:
- Completed online application (opens July 2026)
- Application includes budget, project purpose and description, measurable outcomes, ability to incorporate Florida agriculture and timeline. (see scoring rubric for guidance when completing application)
- Entries are encouraged in any subject area as long as agricultural concepts are integrated into the curricula.
- Previous mini-grant recipients must have submitted their Final Report for previous awards.
- Deadlines are final and cannot be extended. This includes the final reports as multiple reminders are sent. Please ensure we have the best contact information for you even during summer or other break periods. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in ensuring timely submissions.
- Amount awarded is up to $250, there is no minimum amount.
- Projects that have costs that exceed the $250 mini-grant amount are still encouraged to apply. Include in your application that you intend to secure additional funding for the project if appropriate.
Timeline:
- Application opens July 6, 2026, and closes September 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EST
- Mini-Grant notifications will be emailed the week of October 5, 2026. A follow-up email or phone call will come from the Women’s Leadership Committee District Chair and/or District Field Representative for your area.
- Checks will be personally delivered by Women’s Leadership Committee and District Field Representatives after November 2, 2026.
- Final reports must be completed online on or before June 4, 2027.
Funding Guidelines:
- Grant checks must be cashed and used in the school year awarded.
- Grant checks will be made payable to the school, not to an individual.
Final Report:
- Acceptance of a classroom mini-grant is agreement to submit a final report on the completion of your project.
- The report is a brief summary of the project, the results of your desired measurables/outcomes and three to five photos. (Before and after photos are preferred along with action photos – please make sure anything photo can be posted on Florida Farm Bureau’s social media and website.)
- The final report is due by June 4, 2027, but it can be submitted as soon as your project is completed.
- Failure to submit a final report will result in the automatic removal of the teacher from consideration for future mini-grant requests.
Other Notes:
- Innovation and an inter-disciplinary approach are important judging criteria. Extensive student involvement and subsequent effect on the students is important to Florida Farm Bureau Federation.
- Field trips and assemblies must be linked to classroom learning objectives and applications should outline specific pre and post activities.
- Florida Farm Bureau Federation reserves the right to deny applications based on quality, quantity and intent.
- Due to food safety concerns, compost and/or animal waste is not to be used on edible plants in school gardens.
