Sarah Luther of Alachua County received Florida Farm Bureau’s Excellence in Agriculture award for her active contributions to Farm Bureau and agriculture. The award was presented at the Florida Farm Bureau’s 85th State Annual Meeting on Oct. 28.
The Excellence in Agriculture award finalists deliver a presentation on their leadership abilities and involvement in Farm Bureau and other civic organizations to a panel of judges. Runners-up for the award were Victoria Register of Volusia County and Matt and Kayla Gonzales of Jackson County.

Luther is a cattle rancher, attorney and advocate for sustainable agriculture and rural resilience. Alongside her husband, she operates a ranch raising Angus-Wagyu beef. With degrees in agricultural engineering, business and law, she brings a unique perspective to land management and agricultural policy. Luther chairs her county’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee, serves on statewide agricultural organizations and works as corporate counsel for an ag-tech company, advising on regulatory compliance, land use and initiatives that support farmers.
“Winning the Florida Farm Bureau Excellence in Agriculture award is an incredible honor that deeply validates my passion and hard work within our agricultural community,” Luther said. “This recognition reinforces my commitment to supporting Florida’s farmers and ranchers, strengthening our local food systems and ensuring a vibrant future for the industry.”
Luther received a utility vehicle courtesy of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, $500 in cash and an expense-paid trip to the 2027 American Farm Bureau Convention in Charlotte, N.C., where she will represent Florida and compete with other states for the national title.
